As a Chinese (but not commun-ist), I personally recognize mainland, which is called PRC alone in many occasions, as a part of the territory of the Republic of China, while the province of Taiwan is also only a part of Republic of China. Republic of China is an uncomplitied country, that is a tragedy cause by the Chinese Civil War right after WW2. While considering the dilemma today, which is faced with both mainland and Taiwan, please remeber this. If we have to discuss the independent issue, why not think of Canada and Quebec, Japan and Hokkaidou (or even Okinawa)? If Taiwan is considered as an independent state, it would do great harm to Chinese culture, educated people in Taiwan would suffer a huge loss in sence of cultural belonging, causing a pity of human civalization. Besides, that might also make it impossible for Republic of China to obtain further growth and prosperity, especially for Taiwan. This flag, to be precise, the second national flag of Republic of China, was established right after the Chinese Revolution in 1911 by the League of China, which lately became the Nationalist Party of China. The flag was advocated by Sun Yat-sen, but only became offical after his death. This flag contains so much memory of the Chinese nation, but the information given on this website is not only insufficient but inappropirate. I have to say, that’s a shame of Republic of China.
羽晨 ROC國民 より:Back to 1912, Taiwan was still a colony of Japan (taken from Manchurian government of China before 1912) rather than being independent. It’s very curious that this point is missing in this page.
